I have been a fully qualified primary school teacher since 2003 working in primary schools in London and in two International Schools in Hong Kong, teaching across the Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 age ranges. I have taught the UK National Curriculum, IPC and PYP.
My subject specialism is Special Needs and I've worked as a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) in two primary schools in South West London, I have also worked in the Inclusion Support Service for a Local Authority. My mission is to develop all learners so that they grow in confidence. My passion to support pupils to reach their true potential in literacy stems from the very early days of my career as an NQT in London where I always strived to get to know children's unique learning styles. I have tutored both online and in person and have developed strategies for both methods of teaching that uses a multisensory approach to learning.
I hold a Masters of Education in Inclusion and SEND from the University of Birmingham, UK. In addition, I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Specialist Dyslexia Teaching from Dyslexia Matters, meaning I’m qualified to conduct informal, curriculum-based assessments and deliver specialist teaching programmes to learners with SpLD/dyslexia and I'm a member of PATOSS (The professional association of teachers of students with specific learning difficulties)
I hold a current Mental Health First Aid certificate and I am MindUp trained. This means I'm in tune with the mental health needs of pupils and understand how to support them. I am an accredited executive function trained coach and I like to use some of the coaching strategies in my sessions where possible. I love making learning fun, bespoke and catered to the individual needs of each pupil. I pride myself on making lessons interactive and multi-sensory.
